The Virginia Tech Football team will take on Wake’s Wake Forest team at 11:45 a.m.

Sunday in Blacksburg, Virginia.

The Hokies are 8-3-1 at the home of the University of Virginia.

The Virginia Tech team will play Wake’s team for the first time since 2014, when the Hokies defeated Wake for the ACC regular-season championship.

In the 2014 game, Virginia Tech beat the Demon Deacons 35-34.

Wake defeated Virginia Tech 39-17 on Oct. 1, 2018.

Virginia Tech, which is 7-0 this season, has won nine consecutive games.

The win streak comes with Wake (3-2) sitting at 4-5.

Virginia has played Wake three times this season.

Virginia Tech defeated Wake 41-13 in Blacksboro in 2018.

Virginia’s last win at the Blacksboro stadium was a 30-21 victory in the 2017 opener.

Virginia also plays Duke and Miami in the ACC Coastal Division.

The Hokies were led by a freshman quarterback in Alex Griswold, who threw for 1,088 yards and seven touchdowns with three interceptions in last season’s bowl game win over the Blue Devils.

Grisold has since transferred to Wake.

The Blue Devils were 3-7 at home last season.

The team is also coming off a win over No. 2 Georgia in the Georgia Dome in a nonconference matchup.

The Cavaliers will host Virginia Tech next week.

The game marks Virginia Tech’s third straight bowl appearance and the second time in the last six years the Hokie program has reached the postseason.

The team is currently ranked in the top 25 nationally in passing yards per game (309.5), scoring offense (34.8), passing efficiency (134.2) and rushing offense (6.7).
